For many in the world of art collecting, the thought of owning posters sounds like heresy. Just the thought of owning prints that are not original and part of a limited edition of prints makes them crazy. They have a passion for owning one of a kind works of art, that must be the original pieces. It’s a good thing the whole world doesn’t work that way, otherwise their wouldn’t be much art to go around for the rest of us. Just imagine if the only way to see the Mona Lisa, was to visit the original painting hanging in a gallery somewhere. That makes for a pretty exclusive club of viewers.

Art is meant to be shared. I’m sure the original artists that creat all those images wouldn’t want them to be enjoyed by only one person. Then again who knows what some of those artists think. They can be a little bit of an unusual bunch. But, I’m going to assume that they want to be popular, and that usually means having more people view their creations. Plus, their likely to make more money by selling thousands of reproductions than one original. Not that many of them are too interested in money.

Now, I’m finally getting back to my original topic, which is that of poster art. I’ve loved collecting posters, ever since I was a kid. Or at least a teenager. They are appropriate for teens, since the price is always very affordable, plus their latest favorite actor or actress is usually available. For me, it was Yoda. I know, I’m a little strange that way. There is plenty of variety to choose from, when your looking for posters. My favorite places in the mall used to be the record store, and the poster / print shop. Nowadays, it’s great being able to look for all that kind of stuff online. I’m still surprised, that there are even record stores in the mall anymore. The poster shops have already left.
